Medical homes make small improvement in quality, do not cut costs, study finds

The "medical home" model of primary medical care is touted under the Affordable Care Act as one of the key strategies to cut costs and improve quality in the US health system. However, a three-year pilot of the medical home model yielded few improvements in the quality of care and no reductions in hospitalizations, emergency department visits or total costs of care.
